An Acquired Taste: Zen Drop 29

Everybody’s got a thing. What’s yours?

You have to acquire a taste for cigarettes to enjoy them. And then you love them. Most of the time. And then you have to have them. Same with coffee.

It goes beyond addiction. It happens with anything. The familiar. Routine. Comfortable.

It’s something like a fake desire. Or being enthralled in a conversation you don’t want to be having.

What have you acquired a taste for?

No one here is asking you to give up your favorite things. No one is asking you to sacrifice anything. Nothing real. Just to take a moment. Step back and consider.

What is preference?

To quit or indulge.
Which is more comfortable?

A fake desire. A real problem.
Perhaps maybe.

When you’re ready to quit, you’re ready to get started.

You can’t rush these things. Follow curiosity.
Like a loose thread on a sweater that wants pulling.
