In the holistic view, the universe is a single, interconnected whole. Resonance is not just a physical phenomenon but a sight of this deeper connection, where everything affects everything else in continuous flow. David Bohm.

Resonance With Life: Symmetry, Synchronicity And Flow

Read time 4 minutes. Resonance With Life is a stand alone article in our Blocked Energy series.

We often construct walls inside ourselves that prevent the natural processing of experience. When we step into the seat of the neutral observer—when we stop resisting and start going with the flow—we begin to experience resonance with life.

Recently, I suggested mindful listening as a way to practice. The exercise helps us notice sounds as just sounds—some louder, some softer, some more irritating, but all energy. I quoted Michael Singer liberally. Singer never writes about traffic noise or car stereos, yet his words speak directly to this truth: blocked energy and vibrational disturbance are the same thing. Resistance turns them into problems. Allowance lets them pass.

Resistance to life is futile

What happens when we don’t allow a disturbance to move through us? A loud noise hits, stress spikes. Instead of letting it fade, we resist, and the loop begins. Imagination and emotion kick in, compounding frustration. Soon it spills into the body—tension, headaches, exhaustion.

Left unchecked, this feedback loop escalates. “Woe is me,” we think, and the mind piles on: every other frustration, every other grievance. Over time, this cycle corrodes not just peace of mind but physical health. We snap. We lash out. And we become the worst versions of ourselves. None of this is surprising. But it is avoidable.

Rejection = Illusion

This cycle undermines practice. And how many times have we said—everything is an opportunity for practice? If we reject even small disturbances, we’ve already created new resistance. We end up resisting practice itself.

Life doesn’t only test us with dramatic upheavals. More often, it comes as a barrage of little things. Irritations that arrive again and again. The same thought looping. The same noise reappearing. Each one, another chance to allow.

As Singer reminds us:

“The one who notices is already free. If you want to be free of those energies, you must allow them to pass through you instead of hiding them inside of you.”

Resonance positions us for transformation

We do not transform ourselves. We position ourselves so transformation can happen. Resistance amplifies what we reject. Attention laced with bias keeps us bound.

Carl Jung is often paraphrased: what you resist, persists. Push something away, and the pushing itself becomes fuel. Ironically, the attention we give to our resistance empowers it.

Even the attempt to force peace can backfire. Trying desperately to feel calm often leads to more tension. Why? Because the effort is biased—we favor one state, resist another. True resonance means no preference. Awareness that lets everything be.

From this comes emotional intelligence. Attunement to our own feelings, and to the feelings of others. Instead of resisting, we navigate and integrate. Resonance blurs the line between self and world. Oneness shifts from concept to experience.

Resonance with life: A symbiotic relationship

Resonance is rhythm. Think of pushing a swing. When the timing aligns, the swing soars higher with less effort. Musicians know this too: rhythm amplifies sound.

So what happens when we align with the natural rhythm of life itself? Like the swing, our resonance lifts us. Resistance eases, grace rises. Flow becomes natural.

This is not about passivity. It’s about working with life instead of against it. Resonance is synergy. The swing carries us farther because we are no longer fighting the timing.

Resonance is already here

When two objects resonate, they intensify each other. They enrich, they harmonize. We can imagine the same principle underlying everything. Resonance is the unifier.

To feel it is to be connected—to others, to the cosmos, to life itself. Oneness is no longer just an idea. It is lived.

And the key is this: resonance is not something to build or import. It is already within us. A native quality. A natural part of who we are. We need not grasp for it. Nor need we name it. We simply need to stop resisting, and resonance appears.

Quanta Magazine explores, the physics of resonance has played an important role in our understanding of the universe

In this article, a question is raised, “… why do particles behave like humming wine glasses?” The answer?: “…the amplitude of the motion ‘increases continually and finally grows out to infinity.’” The flirtation with our teachings culminates with: “In this sense, resonance is responsible for the very existence of particles.”
